Microsoft, Ingenio Sign Mobile Pay-Per-Call Deal

Ingenio Inc. on Monday said Microsoft has agreed to carry the company’s pay-per-call listings in Windows Live Search for mobile phones. Financial details were not disclosed.

Under the deal, when phone subscribers search for local information on restaurants, hotels, theaters, or other services, Ingenio advertisers will appear within the results. When a person clicks on the listing, a call is automatically made to the advertiser, which pays for each call received.

“The concept of driving phone calls from the Web and mobile search on a performance-basis resonates with advertisers,” John DeVitis, product manager for Windows Live Search for mobile, said in a statement.

Ingenio listings on Windows Live Search for mobile were live as of Monday. Ingenio is based in San Francisco.
